Winning isn’t easy, but it isn’t supposed to be.

More than 1.1 million young athletes think they’re taking the easy road to victory by using performance-enhancing drugs like steroids, growth hormones, sports supplements and other substances. But they’re really just cheating – the game, their team, themselves and their health. And recent studies have shown that young people who aren’t athletes are taking these substances to improve their physical appearance – to look “cut” and “ripped.”

Whatever the reason, using performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) and sports supplements is a losing game, which can have long-lasting – even fatal – effects on the body.

BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee is working with the Tennessee Secondary Schools Athletic Association (TSSAA) and high school coaches to ensure that our state’s young athletes are real winners and compete drug-free.
